Lessons are given in the indoor school or outside menage. Novice riders can learn how to merely sit and control the horse and the more experienced rider, to ride a dressage test or jump a course of show jumps. Group or private lessons can be arranged.
Hacks are available in our beautiful countryside. We have numerous routes over our 260-acre farm and common, local bridleways and forestry. We can offer quiet family rides in the valley or faster rides across our fields and common. For novice riders and families we suggest an hours ride to include part lesson and part hack, all fully supervised. In this way everyone will feel confident to venture out to enjoy the wonderful countryside on horse-back.
Children's Half Days at the Stables Children from 7 years old can enjoy a fully supervised morning or afternoon. This includes an hours riding lesson/hack and lots of practical tuition of pony care and stable management. Sessions run from 9am-12.30pm and 1.30-5pm.
We also offer: Lunge Lessons; Riding Vouchers, an ideal gift; Birthday Party Rides etc
The Riding School is open from Wednesday to Saturday inclusive
including Wed and Thurs evenings in term-time.

I had the most amazing lesson. At the start of my lesson I had very little confidence and by the end I was trotting around the arena in only half an hour! Jimmy and I got on so well and he is such an amazing horse. He made me feel so relaxed and calm, hopefully I’ll be able to ride him again soon.

We loved our week there. The peace and quiet, the desirable views and the wonderful and friendly horses. The helpers were so friendly and welcoming. I had a lovely time on Gregory and Harvey. The other horses are lovely too. I made a lot of progress and improved a lot during the week. We very much enjoyed it there and we hope to come again soon

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for Laurens' birthday party last Friday sorry I didn't get to see you before we left it was raining so hard at that point we just dashed to the cars. Despite the bad weather all the kids had a wonderful time and really enjoyed it. The riding and grooming was a really nice split and the Loft made for an excellent party room.

As an older, experienced rider I wanted to get back in the saddle again following the loss of my own horse after many years hacking together. I visited Alison and explained that my confidence was at an all time low because I felt daunted at the prospect of riding a horse I did not know. She listened to my concerns, found me the right horse and a sympathetic instructor who assessed me and took me out hacking. Very pleased I chose Devenish Pitt at this difficult time.
